Hi guys!
We already discussed head-hunters. I found an interesting
tool through which everyone can become a head-hunter! It´s called “Whizper” and
was launched in spring/summer 2013. Whizper is a button which can be placed on
job ads from online job boards. The company determines a fixed amount between €
150,- and € 10.000,- which the “private” head-hunter will receive when
successfully fulfilling his job. Every “Whizperer” needs to register on the
website. A complex tracking system allows the company to follow the job ad through
the internet. One job cannot be whizpered only once, but many times. If in the
end, the company hires the person, the first and the last whizperer share the
money.
For your better understanding, here is an example how it
works:
Sam is looking for a job. During his research he finds a job
ad which is not interesting for him but which fits to his friend, Helen. By
clicking on the Whizper button, Sam can send the job via E-Mail, Facebook or
any other social media tool to Helen. She takes a look at it and decides that
the position would fit better to her friend Charly. However, Charly knows
someone who perfectly matches the jobs description, wherefore he sends the job
ad to Paul. Paul applies for the job and gets hired. Beforehand, the company
decided that finding the right person for the job is worth € 500,-. Sam and Charly
can now share the money, Paul has a new job and the company found a person who
suits the job.
The idea of Whizer is to replace head-hunters and
recruitment consultants. A growing network spreads the jobs to the most
qualified people. This saves the company costs as they do not have to deal with
applications of unqualified people or even give the position to unsuitable
personnel.
What do you think about the tool? Do you think it could
really help companies to find their staff in a more efficient way? Would you
act as a “Whizperer”? Which problems could arise?

And here you can watch the youtube-video where they explain
again how it works:
I've actually never heard of this before, but I think it's quite an interesting recruitment tool. As social networks and online recruitments are becoming more and more important and will soon play an even more crucial role in the recruitment process this is an easy and efficient way of finding the right people for a position.
AntwortenLöschenMoreover this tool uses private relationships and networks that a company otherwise would not have available. Therefore the company has the chance of finding more suitable people than without Whizper.
On the other hand, people who might not be totally suitable for a position might be suggested through Whizper as the Whizperer are of course no professional job agents or head hunters and therefore don't know that much about the conditions etc.. Due to this, a company might get a lot of suggestions of people that do not fit perfectly for the position through this tool, which would make the recruitment process rather complicated and unefficient.
In my opinion, Whizper might be a cool tool to find the right people if used properly and only for not too important positions. When it comes to management positions that are really crucial for a company's success, I still believe it's better to use professional head hunters or recruitment consultants.
Hello Silvia! This is a very innovative recruiting approach, thanks for sharing this with us! I think it can definitely work, as we all know how fast information travels through social media. I believe that this tool is especially attractive for young professionals and students that just graduated and want to find their first job (generation Social Media). On the other hand, "older" people might not know how to or don't want to use this channel for finding a job.
AntwortenLöschenI believe that using "Whizper" in addition to the regular way of recruiting people, can definitely be enriching for some companies. Since it's rather new, i think it might need some time to get accepted and well-established.
