Entrepreneurial attitude is always crucial for a company. It leads to innovation and reform within this company, or even change the future of a whole industry. However, depending on different types of companies, new ideas or innovation are not always occupying the leading position. Thus, it is important to choose the right company if you are an innovative person.
As an innovative company, it needs new ideas contributing to its development and should know how to led employees to right ideas. This demands proper training and good understanding of company’s culture.
If you were an employee in an innovative company, what would you do to let your boss accept and support your new idea?

AntwortenLöschenDear Nina, thank you for bringing up this interesting article that illustrated a lot of figures on the situation of innovative employees in companies! I very much see the fact that especially for young ones bringing up innovative ideas can be very challenging as they might be seen and accused of having too little knowledge of the company and the entire industry. Many employees only know too well the good old saying by experienced managers: „But that’s how we have always done it“.
AntwortenLöschenTo answer your question, in a case of lacking support of my ideas, I would try to defend them by pointing out necessary changes, bringing up examples of how other companies might have already succeeded by doing something similar (in case this is true) while preparing good illustrations, explanations and potential (positive) impacts in the future. It’s all about convincing that your idea can (and will) work!
Practically, however, convincing someone of your own ideas can be very hard, I have to admit, if the other side is simply not willing to do so. (In this case, however, I’d rather start doubting the fact of working for an INNOVATIVE company, since such a company should be characterized by encouraging new ideas and innovations.)
I finally dare to say that if you are an innovative employee constantly having troubles of non-acceptance and general lack of support of your ideas and you are passionate on living your innovative culture and finding the right job fitting your skills (also referring to Tanita Lagler’s posted article :-) then the best solution is to go search for another job in a company that will welcome and encourage your ideas – or as the article also suggests – go create your own business.
I think that, if a company considers itself "innovative", there should be a working climate that encourages your ideas and there is room for you to explain them. If, on the other hand, the "that's how it has been done all the time"-attitude predominates, I'm not sure if this is an innovative company. Employees need to ask themselves: Is it okay for me to work in a company where I cannot bring in my own ideas? Or is it essential for me to be able to innovate and make a change? There is no right or wrong, it just depends on the personality of the person. If a person really wants to bring in his or her own ideas, and the company doesn't enable them to do so, there is only one way out: find another, more encouraging employer.
