How to motivate employees and improve the
productivity are always key issues within a company. In this article, there are
seven hints to help you achieve that:
1, incentives for all levels of an organization
2. providing feedback
3. respect to employees
4.training at all levels of an organization
5. providing
support
6. Generosity
7. sense of pride
From my own point of view, I do not agree on
the first point. Different positions have different functions. Some are doing
performance related job and this requires incentives to motivate people for
sure. Some others such as secretary or those who just have regular tasks, of
course incentives can motivate them as well to some degree, however, we should
ask if this is really necessary and practical concerning costs.
From your past work experience, how did your
company motivate you and were you satisfied with it? As a hard-working employee,
what kind of incentive has the greatest impact on your performance?
I was just thinking about to post a similar article :)
AntwortenLöschenI think, every person is different when it comes to the question, what kind of motivation works for himself, which is actually the tricky part for the management to find out.
For me personally, I think that Bonuses would work best, but I never had the situation to get some at my working experience, so I can not really say if it is like that. Moreover, I think that point 2 is very important, because the motivation via feedback (especially when it is positive) is priceless. The satisfaction for a successful project and a good feedback after it is in my opinion very high.
As we have the exam next week, the Hawthorne theory fits to your article and could maybe be useful for some people for the exam, too ;)

This shows, that the emotional aspect works for most of the people and is very important to increase productivity and satisfaction of workers.
Motivation plays a crucial part within an organization and as felix said, it is difficult to find out which form of motivation fits to which employee. This is also depending on the size of the company, however, basic motivators are job security, salary, bonuses, promotion, but also the status an employee has within the workplace.
AntwortenLöschenTo my mind, promotion plays an important role. As soon as an employee knows that he or she will be rewarded with a higher job position, the motivation increases which then probably also influences the outcome in a positive way.
I think that incentives can be a good way of motivating people, however if the work environment is bad and employees don't like coming to work, financial incentives won't change their attitude. I think it is very important to show hard-working appreciation for their work and efforts. Moreover, autonomy and trust can improve motivation a lot. Show your employees that you see and appreciate their efforts, that you trust them and therefore give them power to make decisions. Then, don't forget to give them financial incentives as well. But keep in mind they won't necessarily be effective if you didn't fulfill the other factors.
