hey guys.
i found an article concerning the benefits of using contractors..
what do you think about this topic? do you agree or disagree with the author on the benefits??
and what do you think about using contractors in general?
in my opinion using contractors is really a benefit for a company. the benefit that is most important is the flexibility as every company needs to be flexible today and needs to adapt to the fast changing environment really quickly.
furthermore also the cost saving point is an important and really nice advantage of using a contractor. many companies put cost saving on top of their to-do lists today.
last but not least i think also the aspect of the contractor bringing fresh aspects to the company is important. the person is not bound to the company for a long time but is new to the company and therefore much more likely to see problems or challenges the company has to face.
so, what do you think about this topic? do you also think it is really beneficial to the company or do you think using contractors is a bad idea?
i am looking forward to your opinions :)

Thanks for this article Stefanie, I also want to share some of my experiences. In big industries like the automotive, it is quit common to have contractors, especially in the production sector to overcome fluctuations and peaks. Although such a contractor is more expensive than a normal employee, this is sometimes used to a big extend. The reason is simple, you can hire and layoff people without damaging your reputation as well as it is very convinient to hold up the efficiency with relatively low costs.
AntwortenLöschenSo I fully agree on Flexibility and Cost Savings as stated in the article. The other 3 benefits do not really apply for people who are only hired to work on production lines like robots. There is no big need of fresh perspectives from this people due to the fact that there is no real qualification needed for this job. There is no real motivation, only the wages which are pretty high especially for people without any experience in this field of work. Due to standardized processes you even don´t need any kind of spezialization; to be a car mechanic can be useful, but also students, haircutter, backer and nurses can assemble engines in this working environment.
I would say this approach is very benifical for the company, for the employees only when they can live which such kind of working environment, which can be unsecure due to changing volume of production.
